DAY 1
Transfer from Boumalne du Dades to Tagdilt and walk to Tizi n’Ouarg
We transfer from Boumalne du Dades to Tagdilt. We immediately walk out of Tagdilt, first crossing the gently undulating Dades flood plain then rising through a tree-lined gorge, cutting into the foothills of Jebel Sahro, to reach a plateau sprinkled with juniper trees. We the plateau, we descend to the high summer pastures of Tizi n’Ouarg (2282m). We camp for the night. 30 minutes transfer and 4 hours walking, approximately.
DAY 2
Walk from Tizi n’Ouarg to Igli
We climb from Tizi n’Ouarg to the base of Kouaouch, a volcanic plug which is the highest point for miles around. There is the option of scrambling up to its summit (2592m) for tremendous views in all directions. However, please note that this is a technical climb involving the use of hands and, due to our risk assessment, it is not included in your itinerary. Should you choose to undertake this final ascent, it would therefore be undertaken entirely at your own risk.
We descend from Kouaouch to the azibs at Agersidal, another summer pasture, cross below the vertical rock face of Tassigdelt Tamajgalt, and descend once more, finally arriving at the small oasis of Igli (2162m) surrounded by wonderful natural rock formations which almost create the sense of being in a natural ampitheatre. We camp for the night. 4.5 hours walking, approximately.
DAY 3
Walk from Igli to Irhazzoun n’Imlas
We walk from Igli to Boilouz (1525m) and then on through the jumble of the Oufourar Gorge to emerge at the twin rock towers of Bab n’Ali, considered by many to be the jewel of Sahro. We continue as far as Irhazzoun n’Imlas and camp on the edge of the village. 5 to 6 hours walking, approximately.
DAY 4
Walk from Irhazzoun n’Imlas to Hanedour and transfer to Nekob
We walk from Irhazzoun n’Imlas through the Assif Hanedour Valley as far as the village of Hanedour itself with its picturesque, dilapidated kasbah. From here we transfer to Nekob (1039m), renowned as the town of the 40 kasbahs. 4 hours walking and I hour transfer, approximately.
