This beautiful, arid and almost empty landscape is for the most part occupied only by far-flung, transient, semi-nomadic goatherds; the fascinating rock formations that punctuate the terrain can leave a sense of walking across a different planet. Whether you wish to climb Amalou n’Mansour (2712m), the highest mountain in Jebel Sahro, or undertake a less strenuous challenge at a lower altitude, perhaps to follow a trail through the green oasis of Igli to the wonderful rock formation of Bab n’Ali, “the jewel of Sahro”, you are less likely to meet trekkers here than almost anywhere in the Atlas Mountains.
