DAY 1
Transfer from Marrakech to Imlil. Walk from Imlil to Tinerhourhine
We transfer from Marrakech to the colourful, bustling trailhead Berber village of Imlil (1740m), trailhead for most treks in the Toubkal region.
We then walk towards the traditional village of Tinerhourhine, climbing through the small village of Tamatert before pausing to take lunch on the mountain pass of Tizi n’Tamatert (2279m).
In the afternoon, we descend to Tinerhourhine (1600m), spread across both banks of the Imenane Valley, where we either camp or spend the night in a local gite.
4 hours walking, approximately.
DAY 2
Walk from Tinerhourhine to Aït Aïssa
We depart from Tinerhourhine, following the Imenane Valley gently downriver until, passing close by the village of Ikkiss (1700m), we turn away and rise to reach the small mountain pass of Tizi n’Aguersioual (2050m).
Descending on the far side of the pass, we cross the Aït Mizane Valley and immediately begin rising again towards a second mountain pass, Tizi Oudite (2219m), pausing on our way to take our lunch at the village of Matate (2000m).
Once across Tizi Oudite, we descend into the beautiful Azzaden Valley, a series of traditional villages strung out along on its far bank, and spend the night either camping or in a local gite in the small, picturesque village of Aït Aïssa (1800m).
6 to 7 hours walking, approximately.
DAY 3
Walk from Aït Aïssa to Imlil
We depart from Aït Aïssa and walk up valley towards the village of Tizi Oussem, its traditional houses clustered tightly together up the valley side (1900m).
We then rise further to cross the mountain pass of Tizi Mzik (2489m) and then descend once more on the far side through the village of Mzik itself, dropping back into into the Aït Mizane Valley, and arrive back in Imlil.
4 hours walking, approximately. Transfer back to Marrakech.
